A bit of a make-up post as I’ve been on holiday with the family for the past couple weeks. I’ve crammed a lot into this one to make up for missing the last couple weeks. Hope it was worth the wait.

New Album
Album – Transparent Eyeball
Artist - Leila Moss
Top Tracks – Dark Kitchens, Reward, Sticky, Superior
Genre - Trip-Hop, Alternative/Indie Rock
My take – A bit of Portishead with a dash of Depeche Mode feel to this album. Modern trip-hop at it’s finest.
New Album
Album – Peanuts
Artist - Liz Lawrence
Top Tracks – Big Machine, No One, Strut,
Genre - Alternative/Indie Rock, Experimental Pop
My take – A pop album with elements of funk, pop, rock and more. Almost always with a heavy bass line.
New Album
Album – The Cutouts
Artist - The Smile
Top Tracks – Colours Fly, Don’t Get Me Started, The Slip,
Genre - Alternative/Indie Rock, Rock,
My take – Radiohead singer and guitarist with Sons of Kemet drummer get together for their third album as a trio in two years and it’s maybe their best so far. Think Radiohead with a more intimate sound and a jazz drummer.
New Album
Album – The Future Is Our Way Out
Artist - Brigitte Calls Me Baby
Top Tracks – Fine Dining, I Wanna Die In The Suburbs, Too Easy, We Were Never Alive
Genre - Alternative/Indie Rock, Post-Punk,
My take – Elvis meets Morrissey/The Smiths in this debut album. It definitely feels like a throwback album with songs easily fitting into multiple eras from the 50s to the 80s and genres from country, rock, post-punk and more.
Fave Album
Album – Silence Yourself
Artist - Savages
Top Tracks – Shut Up, Strife, Waiting For A Sign, She Will, Marshall Dear
Genre - Post-Punk, Punk, Alternative/Indie-Rock
My take – They put out two albums and this is their debut. Jehnney Beth sounds like Patti Smith meets Siouxsie Sioux and has the edge to back it up. This is a what a girl band should be.
Fave Track
Album – Red Earth & Pouring Rain
Artist - Bear’s Den
Genre – Adult Alternative, Easy Listening
My take – Right out of the gate, you’re transported back to the mid-80’s Americana like Glenn Frye, Don Henley and Bryan Adams. Picture a warm summer night, windows down, driving country backroads, through small towns, past cornfields with your friends.
