New Track
Track – The Act of Living
Artist - Sky Wallace
Album – The Act of Living
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Psychedelic Rock, Prog Rock
My take – Best track on this album from this talented Canadian singer/songwriter turned rocker. Anthemic song with some cool time signature shifts in the beat. If you like this track, give the rest of the album a listen.
New Album
Album – Cinema 3000
Artist - Common Saints
Top Tracks – Sweet Release, Dreams, Rebel Paradise, Sweet Surrender
Genre - Psychedelic Rock, Soul, R&B, Jazz
My take – If you liked Fanfare by Jonathan Wilson from my first post, you will dig this one. There are elements of 60s & 70s psychedelic and progressive rock from this multi-instrumentalist. Pink Floyd, Creedence Clearwater, Morcheeba, Khruangbin, lots of different elements here. It just came out on Friday but I think it’s going to spend a lot of time on my rotation.
Fave Album
Album – Destroyer
Artist - Black Mountain
Top Tracks – Horns Arising, Boogie Lover, Licensed to Drive, Fd 72
Genre - Psychedelic Rock, Rock, Metal
My take – This is the fifth album from Vancouver hard rockers, Black Mountain and it may be their best yet, which is saying something. Driving guitars, synths, organ, and vocals that recall the best of the 80’s hair metal bands.
Fave Track
Track – Just Calling
Artist - Black Honey
Album – Black Honey
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Rock, Pop
My take – There’s a synth background element to this track that reminds me of Heartbeat City by The Cars that is very nostalgic for me.
