New Track
Track - Desire Path
Artist - FACS
Album – In These Dying Times
Genre - Punk, Post-Punk, Post-Rock, Noise-Rock
My take – A single from their upcoming album slated for February gives you a good indication of who they are as a band.
New Album
Album – A Firmer Hand
Artist - Hamish Hawk
Top Tracks – Machiavelli’s Room, Big Cat Tattoos, Autobiography of a Spy, Milk an Ending
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Chamber Pop
My take – The music is dense, layered and driving with Hawk’s rythmic vocals delivering slick lyrics often quite explicit. You get the sense he is baring his soul on this third album and could care less who is listening. At times sounding like Morrissey or Arctic Monkeys, this is an album worth hearing.
Fave Album
Album – Love Writes Iteself
Artist - Dralms
Top Tracks – Plants Behind Glass, Marble Drape, A Dream Within Reason, Precious Flower
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Trip-Hop
My take – A Vancouver band with an atmospheric trip-hop vibe. This is a great album to be playing in the background during a mellow night of conversation. If you like this one, their previous album is also a winner.
Fave Track
Track – Mirror Remains
Artist - Bauhaus
Album – Go Away White
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Rock
My take – This is Bauhaus like they never skipped a beat, or two decades. Bela Lugosi is still dead.
