NToM #21
Christmas is Wednesday so I’m starting it off with my two favourite Christmas albums. Only one new album released this week that caught my ear but it’s a good one. Happy holidays, everyone!
Visit the NToM Linktree page: NToM to choose the tracks or albums you want to listen to. Or, import this week’s entire playlist into your library here: NToM #21

Holiday/Christmas Albums
Album – Merry Axemas & Merry Axemas Volume 2
Artist - Various
Top Tracks – All of them
Genre - Holiday, Rock, Metal
My take – A bunch of guitar virtuosos creating rock versions of traditional Christmas songs. I put these on every holiday and they’re (almost) always a hit.
New Album
Album – Howl
Artist - She Drew The Gun
Top Tracks – Howl, Mirrors, Shine On, Nothing Lasts
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Synth-Pop, Dream-Pop
My take – Synth-Pop that delivers track after track. She’s a bit hard to categorize but I hear elements of Warpaint, Pat Benatar and Yaz/Yazoo. On Shine On, a standout among a lineup of very good tracks, she alternates between dreamy vocals and poetically delivered rap and I can’t stop listening to it.
Fave Album
Album – Nicholas Godin
Artist - Concrete and Glass
Top Tracks – Concrete and Glass, Back to Your Heart, We Forgot Love,
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Electronic, Ambient Pop
My take – Nicholas Godin is a founding member of Air and this is a logical next step in sound you would expect. It is smooth, airy and groovy through and throughmerry. Great late night listener which definitely sets a laid back mood.
Fave Track
Track – Everything You Do
Artist - Good Shoes
Album – No Hope, No Future
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Post-Punk
My take – This track is a sleeper that I can’t help but join in the vocals with his less than exuberant delivery of catchy lyrics that just worm their way into your head.
