New Album
Album – All Born Screaming
Artist - St. Vincent
Top Tracks – Reckless, All Born Screaming
Genre - Alternative/Indie
My take – Shades of PJ Harvey, Tori Amos and even Nine Inch Nails in this one. She is super experimental and never disappoints.
New Album
Album – Eye to the Ear
Artist - Cosmo Sheldrake
Top Tracks – I Did And I Don’t And I Do, Old Ocean
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Electronic
My take – Somewhat carnivalesque at times, this is an interesting album with a ton of different songs and styles.
Fave Album
Album – What an enormous room
Artist - Torres
Top Tracks – Happy man’s shoes, Collect, Artificial limits
Genre - Alternative/Indie
My take – Rythmic, jagged, fuzzed out guitars and bass lines are the anchors to another good outing from Torres and sees her steering away from her pop side.
Fave Album
Album – The Waydown
Artist - Big Scenic Nowhere
Top Tracks – The Waydown, Surf Western, Bleed On
Genre - Rock, Prog-Rock
My take – These guys are all in other bands but have come together to produce a good rock album. They have some prog leanings that take the album in some cool directions and there are moments that their vocals sound a bit like Alice & Chains to me.
Fave Album
Album – Omni
Artist - Douglas Dare
Top Tracks – Sailor, Teach Me
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Electronic
My take – Cool electronic artist with interesting arrangements you could hear in a soundtrack or two. Definitely mood music.
Fave Album
Album – I Can Do Better
Artist - Thunderpussy
Top Tracks – I Can Do Better, Sallie Mae, West (Acoustic)
Genre - Rock, Blues
My take – A female four piece that reminds me of the Runaways and rocks good ol’ 70s style rock and roll. The lead singer has an angelic voice that can wail with the best of them.
