NToM #27
Sorry for missing last week but the new album releases are rolling in now with this week being a post-punk smorgasbord. Ranging from mellow to edgier to heavy, there is something for every post-punk fan out there, I hope.

New Album
Album – Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory
Artist - Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory
Top Tracks – Live Forever, I Can’t Imagine, Southern Life
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Post-Punk
My take – A post punk effort throughout, it slides in and out of different influences, including Kate Bush, New Order, Siouxsie Sioux and even Debbie Harry on I Can’t Imagine.
New Album
Album – Glutton For Punisment
Artist - Heartworms
Top Tracks – Jacked, Smugglers Adventure
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Post-Punk, Goth, Industrial
My take – A bit more of a goth/industrial take on the genre, this album is their debut LP after an amazing EP was released in 2023. Some songs have a NiN or early Ministry vibe but they don’t stick to the same formula, which I appreciate.
New Album
Album – Wish Defense
Artist - FACS
Top Tracks – Talking Haunted, Wish Defense, Desire Path
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Post-Punk
My take – This is more of an angular, bass forward, sparse listen. It’s not as melodic as the previous two and definitely feels like it highlights the punk side of post-punk.
New(ish) Album
Album – Sacred Times
Artist - FACS
Top Tracks – Sacred Times, Vanishing Blinds, Poodle Escape
Genre - Alternative/Indie
My take – This was brought to my attention by one of you, so thank you, JD! This album released last year and is another. The bass guitarist reminds me of The Cure at times and the lead singer ranges from spoken word to Bangles-esque pop vocals. There is also a surf rock vibe that surfaces and resurfaces throughout.
