New Album
Album – Divinations
Artist - Oracle Sisters
Top Tracks – Riverside, Blue Left Hand, Velveteen
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Folk, Psychedelic
My take – From mellow psychedelic folk to 80’s inspired electronic dance beats, and everything in between, the overall sense on this album is bright instrumentation, airy vocals and mellow vibes.
New Album
Album – A Million Knives
Artist - The Velveteers
Top Tracks – All These Little Things, Sweet Little Hearts, Moonchild
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Rock
My take – Sophomore album from this Colorado trio (including double drummers) sounds a bit more polished but still has the attack, grit and distorted guitars that caught my ear with their first album. They have a knack for speeding up and slowing down within a song, adding some drama and suspense but for the most part, it is a driving rock and roll album.
New Album
Album – Serene Demon
Artist - Art D’Ecco
Top Tracks – Cooler Than This, The Traveller, A Change Of Scenery
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Glam-Rock
My take – Glam rock with instrumentation switching from song to song including afro-beats, strings, horns, piano, marimbas synths and slick bass lines. This is a fun, upbeat, danceable album from start to finish.
Fave Track
Track – Gun
Artist - Emiliano Torrini
Genre - Alternative/Indie
My take – This track is a lesson in how a simple, repetitive guitar sequence with amazing songwriting can impart suspense, drama and emotion.
