NToM #3
Issue #3 is here. The link format has changed as Songwhip disappeared last night so I made a last minute move to Linktree. Instead of linking each track/album, you can go to the Linktree page here: NToM and choose which one you want to add to your library.
New Album
Album – As Dust We Rise
Artist - Kiiōtō
Top Tracks – Hem, Ammonite, Quilt
Genre - Alternative, Indie-Folk, Jazz
Sound - Jazz inspired folk minimalism with subtle doses of piano, strings, harmonica and horns. A bit Tori Amos inspired.
Mood/Occasion – Warm, mellow, inviting, haunting and romantic at times.
My take – I’ve only listened to it a few times in the past couple days but I have a felling it is going to be in my rotation for a while. It doesn’t reach out and grab you but folk rarely does with me.
Fave Album
Album – Violet Drive
Artist - Kerala Dust
Top Tracks - Moonbeam, Midnight Howl, Violet Drive
Genre – Alt-Dance, Electronic
Sound – Groovy electro beats
Mood/Occasion – Hypnotic beats, synths, strings with a bit of Tom Waits vocals
My take – If you’ve ever heard the 80s/90s band Shriekback, this will bring you back.
Fave Track
Track – That’s The Way I Walk
Artist – Tommy Hawkins (Hawksley Workman)
Album - Amy
My take – Hawksley Workman is one of my favorite Canadian artists and this track is a bit of a stylistic departure for him. Rythmic piano, good beat and a bit of an early Prince guitar and vocal performance.
I’ve also changed the playlist format based on feedback to just add key tracks instead of entire albums. To import the playlist into your music library click this link: NTOM#3.
