New Album
Album – Firehose of Falsehoods
Artist - O.R.k.
Top Tracks – The Other Side, PUTFP, Seven Arms
Genre - Rock, Metal, Prog, Grunge
My take – This band and album remind me of Soundgarden, likely because of the lead vocalist’s wail being similar to Chris Cornell’s. Definitely a bit more proggy and possibly a bit heavier but you will hear influences from that 90’s metal/grunge/prog era, like Alice & Chains, Incubus and even a bit of Tool.
New Album
Album – Chewing The Fat
Artist - Franc Moody
Top Tracks – Square Pegs In Round Holes, Space Between Us, Going Through The Motions, Can’t Find The Words
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Electronic, Synthpop
My take – This one takes me back to 70’s funk/disco and 80’s dance pop and has an amazing amount of unique synth sounds. What I like about this one is that you can’t find a single standout influence and they take from just about everything and everyone to create something their own.
Fave Track
Track – Devoted To
Artist - Lightning Dust
Genre - Alternative/Indie
My take – A Vancouver band with a cool retro-synth vibe to their songs with an amazing vocalist. Bat for Lashes meets Portishead meets Stevie Nicks in this amazing band who just keeps getting better and better. Check out any of their albums for more.
