A make up issue for missing a few weeks in a row. Apologies, life gets in the way sometimes. That being said, there are some good new albums that have come out recently and here they are.

New Album
Album – The Painful Truth
Artist - Skunk Anansie
Top Tracks – Shame, Shoulda Been You, Animal
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Rock
My take – Skunk Anansie hasn’t lost a thing in the 9-years since their last album except for their nu-metal sound. This album is much more experimental and diverse with Skin’s voice anchoring their sound across a few different genres.
New Album
Album – The Line Is A Curve
Artist - Kae Tempest
Top Tracks – No Prizes, More Pressure
Genre - Rap, Spoken Word, Post-Punk
My take – Rap and spoken word with a post-punk instrumentation behind. Definitely a unique take on mixing a couple of genres.
New Album
Album – I Just Want To Be A Sound
Artist - Kadavar
Top Tracks – Hysteria, Let Me Be A Shadow, Sunday Mornings, Until The End
Genre - Rock
My take – Another band that has shed their previous sound, this time losing their stoner rock/doom metal sound in favour of, dare I write it, psych-pop? Long time fans may not appreciate this new direction but it is definitely a more accessible album for them and it is getting a lot of playtime from me right now.
New Album
Album – 21st Century Fiction
Artist - The Amazons
Top Tracks – Living A Lie, Joe Bought A Gun, Go All The Way
Genre - Alternative/Indie
My take – A bit of arena rock from this band, you can definitely see that they are writing music for larger audiences and venues. They seem to channel Muse, Royal Blood and Nothing But Thieves a bit at times but are definitely their own sound. This is pure, driving rock that doesn’t diverge too far from their alt-rock roots.
New Album
Track – Metalhorse
Artist - Billy Nomates
Genre - Alternative/Indie
Top Tracks – The Test, Dark Horse Friend, Life’s Unfair, Gas
My take – Starting off the album with a piano intro that could be a lost Fiona Apple track, this is another genre hopping album with an underlying vibe of Stevie Nicks throughout her 70’s/80’s career.
New Album
Album – Superb
Artist - Surprise Chef
Top Tracks – Body Slam, Fare Evader
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Rock
My take – This is cinematic funk for fans of moody vibes and vintage textures. Like the soundtrack to a ‘70s detective show with cameos from Ponch and Jon. Everything’s locked-in, tight, and smooth as a suede couch.
