NToM #43
Post-Punk, Art-Pop, Dream Pop, Alt-Country and more Post-Punk
This week we’re dipping into cosmic synth explorations, hazy dream-pop portals, lush art-pop, hypnotic electro-folk, outlaw Americana, punk/post-punk that never lets up.

New Album
Automatic – Is It Now?
Top Tracks – mq9, Country Song, The Prize,
Genre – Post-Punk, Synthwave
My take – The women from Automatic lean harder into icy synths with rythmic bass lines and varied beats while sprinkling in bongos, organ, flute and their laid back delivery. It’s mechanical, minimal, but still alive with late-night neon.
New Album
Cate Le Bon – Michaelangelo Dying
Top Tracks – Love Unrehearsed
Genre – Art Pop, Avant-Indie
My take – Le Bon continues her streak of sculpted, angular pop—surreal but tender. It has a wisp of the unpredictability of Laurie Anderson, and while it has some odd moments, not nearly as off kilter as Anderson.
New Album
Night Tapes – portals//polarities
Top Tracks – swordsman, masterplan, helix, leave it all behind, Mike,
Genre – Dream Pop, Chillwave
My take – Night Tapes nail the balance between bedroom pop and interstellar drift. Flitting vocals float above beats that flow between yacht rock and trip-hop. If you’ve ever wanted Beach House and Toro y Moi to jam together, this scratches it.
New Album
Monolink – The Beauty of it All
Top Tracks – Call of the Void, Powerful Play, Promised Land,
Genre – Electronic
My take – Acoustic guitars intertwine with throbbing deep-house rhythms, pulling folk storytelling onto the dance floor. If you like Kerala Dust, you will dig this guy.
New Album
Amanda Shires – Nobody’s Girl
Top Tracks – A Way It Goes, Piece Of Mind
Genre – Americana, Alt-Country
My take – Fierce and intimate, Shires blends fiddle fire with songwriter grit. This is a beautiful, heartfelt, confessional breakup record and she powers through like a phoenix from the flame.
New Album
Sprints – All That Is Over
Top Tracks – Abandon, Something’s Gonna Happen, Better, Desire
Genre – Punk Rock, Post-Punk
My take – Sprints channel pure catharsis: jagged guitars, shout-to-the-rafters vocals, and pounding rhythm that refuses to quit. Like early Savages colliding with the spirit of Bauhaus — dark, raw, urgent.
