NToM #9
Welcome to New Tune on Monday. I have a request… let me know what tracks or albums I'm sharing that you are digging. And since you are all getting to know the type of music I like, you may have your own recommendations. If so, put them in the comments section so we can all find more new stuff.
My hope would be that this turns into a bit of a community for all of us to share new tunes. I can't wait to hear what your are all listening to that might have flown under my radar.
As always, go to the NToM Linktree page: NToM and choose the tracks or albums you want to listen to. To import the playlist into your library click this link: NTOM#9
I’ve also created a playlist that contains every track I’ve highlighted. My recommendation here would be to put this on shuffle and see what hits and what doesn’t. Keep coming back to it as it will grow each week and there will be songs that fit every mood. Here’s the link: NToM Tracks
New Single
Track – Knee Deep
Artist – Bones UK
Album - Soft
Genre - Alternative/Indie, Rock
My take – Where there last album had a bit of NIN influence, this is more of a garage/stoner rock feel ad Knee Deep is one of the more atmospheric songs. It starts slow and turns into a blues rocker along the way.
New Album
Album – Fight The Real Terror
Artist - My Brightest Diamond
Top Tracks – Fight The Real Terror, Rocket In My Pocket, Rule Breaker, Safe House
Genre - Alternative/Indie Rock
My take – I have been a fan for a few years but this album, which is a tribute to Sinéad O'Connor, is a special one. It's powerful, emotional, has a bit of Irish folk at times and like Sinéad, pushes us to claim our power and fight for what's right. If you like Sinéad, Tori Amos or PJ Harvey, you will like this one.
Fave Album
Album – Physical Thrills
Artist - Silversun Pickups
Top Tracks - Scared Together, Alone on a Hill, We Won't Come Out, Quicksand
Genre – Alternative/Indie Rock
My take – Energetic alt-rock album with killer bass lines, and smatterings of piano, strings and synth. It’s unpredictable and has some real gems on it. For those familiar with earlier Silversun Pickups, this is their best effort, in my opinion.
Fave Track
Track – Victory Dance
Artist – My Morning Jacket
Album - Circuital
Genre – Electronic, Downtempo, Club/Dance
My take – An odd vocal opening to this song, it quickly settles in to a steady, throbbing build of guitar, bass and drums that eventually closes with a satisfying finale.
